21st CCLC Century Community Learning Centers NTAC National Technical Assistance Center - Integrating Comprehensive Safety Planning in OST Programs

Integrating Comprehensive Safety Planning in OST Programs

Event Date: July 31, 2025

Learn about prevention and preparedness strategies for out-of-school time (OST) programs by observing a scenario-based tabletop exercise. Explore ways to identify risks, establish protocols, and integrate safety planning into program structures to mitigate potential threats before they escalate. Experts from the Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools (REMS) TA Center provide guidance on developing emergency operations plans (EOPs), strengthening communication strategies, and building partnerships with the school community to enhance program-wide readiness. They also share two free tools: SITE ASSESS (a mobile app to assess preparedness) and EOP ASSIST (an EOP generator).
